Problem1: Design and build a system to coat glass plates in titanium dioxide evenly and efficiently.
Designed a method for dip coating glass slides into a beaker with maximum space utilization! Also, binder clips are easy to integrate and employ.
We use them to ultrasonicate our coated slides, too.
Problem 2: Test water quality treatment with TiOs based on different angles of UV irradiance. Create a system that enables constant waterflow across TiO2 coated plates where the water is cycled repeatedly and the angle of the plates can be adjusted.
The first of many designs! I made a tank for a batch reactor to ensure constant flow rates. The dimensions weren't right, but it still worked. Design lesson? Always prototype first.
Had some fun on the vinyl cutter and laser cutter :)
New bases for the reactors! Laser cut two pieces, which were later glued together so the screw head doesn't interefere with stability.
My CAD drawings of new, precise, and user-friendly angle-adjusting panels to be added on to a current design. It involved a lot of meticulous measuring, but they work well--much better than holding our panels in place with modeling clay.
Some equipment and work has been excluded because our paper has not yet been published!
