This is a freelance project for OSIM International, which specializes in well being products. The brief is to conceive blue sky ideas for their health line of products. This is a 5 man team project whereby we brainstorm and discuss ideas.This idea is conceived by me and discussed with my team.
Massages provide much needed physiotherapy for elderly who suffer from physical aches. In addition to massages, light exercises are also useful as part of the physiotherapy process for them.Thus, this concept is to encourage the elderly to do some light exercises on the massage chair, which will give them the incentive of enjoying massages at the same time.
Different modes of interaction between the user and Mimosa are explored. These interactions aim to engage the elderly in light exercises, which in turn will activate the massages.
One of the initial ideas is a ball kind of control that the elderly can grip and do light arm exercises.The massages can only initiate when the user starts to move his or her arms, doing the light exercises. After consultation with the client, the light exercise interaction will be integrated onto the chair itself, rather than as a ball kind of control.
