Hoplites! Greeks at War was created as part of a project called Every Soldier has a Story. It follows a hoplite soldier (heavy infantryman) as he prepares and goes to war.
My longest animation to date. This story was developed with Sonya Nevin, the organiser of the Every Soldier has a Story exhibition. The story brings together various aspects of the depiction of warfare on ancient vases: Training, sacrifice, battle preparation, battle, battle aftermath and celebration. The battle aftermath, for instance, shows a number of dead bodies spread around the vase, all of which conform to the positions the dead and dying are displayed in on various vases.

The animation was created using Adobe Photoshop to layer out the photograph, After Effects to create the animation and image sequence, Audition to create the musical score and Premiere Pro to put the whole thing together.
