by Jorge Silva, CTO | Komodo OpenLab Inc.
Since 2010, I have been in charge of the technical development of Tecla, leading its evolution from a University research prototype, into a commercially-available product.
The first prototype of the Tecla 'Shield' consisted of a custom board stacked over an Arduino UNO.
The first commercial version of the Tecla Shield was put together from various open-source projects into a coherent, albeit inmature, product. Yet, our emphasis on user experience allowed us to sell over 500 units since it achieved its purpose very effectively.
The second generation of Tecla included a wide range of new features developed under strict design constraints. I had the privilege of leading a diverse and incredibly capable team of designers and engineers, such as Lawrence Kwok, who worked on the design and prototyping of the enclosure.
