Biking at night can be very dangerous because drivers often have a hard time seeing a rider in the dark. I could just pick up some bike lights, but the good ones are way too expensive. Besides, people steal them and you have to keep recharging them. Gross...
I feel like Michael Knight never had that problem though... hmmm
So I got to work, I mean... how hard can it be? A LED strip, solar panel, solar charger, controller board, battery and a switch should do the trick.
Except the Adafruit solar charger wasn't co-operating, so I had to switch to a Sunny Buddy by Sparkfun.
And finally hide all the guts into a custom 3D printed enclosure, bolted to the child seat.
6 months after, and it is still bolted (though in need of some repairs) but I never have to charge it again!
And I was able to sneak in a front light upgrade for the third design iteration.
