'Brands are often made up of a complex set of values, carefully developed to make them relevant for a particular audience and time'

Our first project of second year was a single week assignment to look at ourselves as a brand and make a three dimesional icon that would represent six brand values we had assigned to ourselves. The values I chose to focus on were perfectionist, emotional (and to a lesser extent clumsy) and the outcome I settled on was a spinning top.

The reasoning behing the spinning top was each section would be assigned a different emotion, and as it quickly spun it would represent how quickly my emotions can change. I decided to use block colour as a simple way of showing each emotion  (blue = meloncholy, yellow = joy, red = frustration etc.) without distracting from other elements of the design.

Our tutors emphasised how material choice could have an impact on the message of the icon, so as a way of reflecting my perfectionism, I chose to make the icon from the development pages of this project that I had scrapped becuase of small mistakes. Therefore each section is already marked and has writing related to the project, although not directly designed for the final outcome. The fact that the page I mainly used for material was one on which I had been listing different traits adds to the overall emphasise of a varied personailty that's subject to change.
