Swedish Museum of Architecture – Special Issue 2008

The Swedish Museum of Architecture – Special Issue Magazine 2008

In 2008, the Swedish Museum of Architecture commissioned Ritator to design a special issue magazine. The publication presented ten stories about ten different architectural projects. Part of the brief was to translate each practice’s process into a graphically comprehensible story.

Rather than starting off each story with an overview, as is normally the case in stories of architecture, the idea was to reverse that tradition and focus on the details that create unity in a building. Ritator decided to present each case study with two spreads of close-ups. Not until the third spread is the full overview of the project revealed. Therefore, the layout of the magazine is mirroring the sense of discovery one has when seeing a building, noticing new details time after time.
