XChange Design Lecture Series
Branding and Poster Design
While attending classes with the Art Institute of California: Sacramento, I was approached by our Academic Director to design a poster and branding element for a lecture series that would soon be starting on campus. The aim of the series was to bring industry-leading professionals to speak to graphic design students about their experiences working in the field and then the speaker would host a hands-on workshop relating to the aspect of design they primarily work in (packaging, branding, merchandizing, etc.).

The Mark ("logo")
For the mark (the requested branding element), I strived to make a piece that would be interactive with other elements on the page and that would bear a strong resemblance to the series it represents. It is a text bubble, representing the dialogue that would transpire at these events between speakers and students. It also represents, however, the ideas that hopefully spark in the students mind as they engage in the workshop and begin to explore new ideas.

Within the text bubble I wanted to drive the idea of bringing minds together and imparting ideas through the "X" at the beginning of the word "XChange." Here you see a series of lines breaking off of the "X", representing the imparting of knowledge from the speaker to the students.
The final mark design.
Presented here is the final design for the first poster promoting the series.
