HOMETOWN HIFI — Sonos Studio

HOMETOWN HIFI — Sonos Studio — 2014

The sound systems that came out of 1960s Jamaican dancehalls led to a local revolution that changed global music culture. Imprint Projects worked with curator Seb Carayol to tell this story through an exhibition of ephemera and film. Artifacts included King Tubby's original Hometown Hifi sound system salvaged from a yard in Kingston, a DIY dub mixer, rare photography and an iPad app so that  visitors could make their own “dubs”.

Artists in the exhibition included Scientist, Beth Lesser and Tero Kaski, King Jammy, Stone Love, Metromedia, Mad Professor and Ziggy Marley.
