Advanced shell material

Advanced shell material is a trial to reinvent complex material that can respond to environmental variables - humidity, temperature and light.
The material is made of small flower like particles that can close and open up to transmit more/less humidity from one side of the shell to the other. The particles are caged between two surfaces, constructive surface and a stretched dynamic surface to create better isolation between the two sides of the shell.
 
The model was first generated in Rhino and responds to parameters using Grasshopper plug in (shown in the video).
The physical model is a prototype that explores the construction option using hard and soft material and laser cut elements.
A possible application of this material is a greenhouse
We created a trial model of the new material using lazer cut plastic sheet and fabric. We worked on the opening and closing machanism as well as the flexability of the material as a whole.
