[MDF, aluminium channel, light]

This work explores the volume of shadows by framing the shadows cast by plinths. I was interested in the relationship between plinths and sculptures within a gallery space. In this case, rather than raising the art object like a pedestal, the plinth brings the work into being. I was exploring how to create an awareness of the light and shadows that already exist (often unnoticed) within a gallery space.
The work also explores the perception of space as the framing can cause the viewer to see the shadow as tinted planes. I enhanced this by using aluminium u-channel which looks similar to the framing used on modern windows.
