Canton Store Grand Opening Mural Commission for Walmart
The illustration was commissioned through NOW Art, a public art agency from Los Angeles. NOW Art is working with Walmart on a community mural program as part of their store remodels. This public art initiative involves inviting local artists to create mural designs that celebrate the local community.
I was commissioned by Walmart to create this 20 by 21 foot mural for the Canton Michigan store this spring. It was about 5 days of work. The idea was to capture the flavor of the community. The mural art features the Liberty Festival, the Cherry Hill Village Festival, the original one-room schoolhouse, Heritage Park, the community's history as the once upon a time sweet corn capitol, and the Village Theater for the performing arts.
Process
