The book shows several photo series I had captured during my Aerial Views project over the last 15 years around the world, from the Isar River in Bavaria to the City of Manila in the Philippines.
With text contributions from Professor Christof Mauch, one of Europe's leading environmental historians.

The author of the stories about the photo series Christof Mauch is director of the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Professor of American cultural history at the LM-University in Munich.

Christof Mauch's texts are excellently researched and include facts with new insights for each photo-series, at the same time the stories are entertaining and exciting.

For example did you know, that as early as the 1630s, prices for sought-after tulip varieties in Holland shot up astronomically, as a result of which the rare flower bulbs no longer found buyers and the whole thing went down in history as the first veritable speculative bubble?

Bernhard Lang ist freischaffender Fotograf. Für sein Luftbild-Projekt »Aerial Views« hat er zahlreiche Preise wie z. B. 2015 den begehrten Sony World Photography Award gewonnen. Seine Arbeiten wurden u. a. in »Times Magazine«, »ZEIT Magazin«, »Stern« oder »art magazin« publiziert.

Christof Mauch ist Direktor des Rachel Carson Center für Umwelt und Gesellschaft und Professor für Amerikanische Kulturgeschichte an der LMU in München. Er war Präsident der Europäischen Gesellschaft für Umweltgeschichte und ist Autor zahlreicher Bücher.
