BRAZILIAN CARNIVAL
I wanted to honor the biggest party in the world, the Brazilian carnival. During this period's parades, there are three figures who always grab my attention: a rainha de bateria (the dummer queen), o mestre-sala (the master of ceremonies), and porta-bandeira (the flag bearer). Feather-filled costumes are my favorite, so I chose to illustrate them this way. The bird's symbolism accurately describes what this moment means to Brazil: freedom.
