'A Vision for Berhampore'
Urban Design Paper_Third Year

Throughout the course of this Urban Design paper, it took place in three stages to produce a final booklet as a group collaboration (myself and two others). Our selected site - Berhampore is a small residential suburb just south of Wellington's cbd. A somewhat run-down location more often used as a thoroughfare to get to neighbouring suburbs through its main arterial road. [Note: Only my participations are shown]

Stage one: To analyze the existing state;
....topography, buildings, activities, population, density, social demographic, SWOT analysis etc and come up with a VISION to develop this quaint little neighbourhood to better it's physical environment.

Stage two: To create a framework;
With reference to the goals and vision established, we put together a framework for Berhampore (initial planning and strategies) using precedents and demonstrating our rationale for the proposed changes. We addressed the issues of accessibility, shared spaces, restoration, intensification, sense of place and connectivity.

Stage three: To create a design guide;
The final stage was to put together a detailed design guide for the suburb showing our intentions, objectives, interventions and guidelines - "How is everything going to come together exactly? - And what guidelines must be followed?"
