Our friends at Michael Kors reached out to us again to create a short social media clip for their new, Chinese NY 2024 Lunar bag. The basic idea consisted of a dramatic lighting setup of the three differently colored bags and a golden dragon. The dragon was to wind its way around the three different bags and finally complete the logo of the top bag. The character animation of the dragon was created in Cinema 4D. All bags and the still life of the bags were simulated and created in SideFX Houdini. Finally, everything was cut and exported in DaVinci Resolve.

We at TACTYC have a strong focus on light, textures and general feeling. Dramatic lights and strong textures should transport a high end feeling, but also make the whole spot fun to watch.

To let the dragon move, we used spline deformations, as well as joint based rigs. Adding some small secondary motions made the dragon feel a bit more alive.
