Modi : Flexible Display Robot

Modi is a TV robot utilizing a flexible display. It provides convenience to people by breaking away from the image of traditional wall-mounted or stand-alone TVs that are fixed in one place and allowing itself to position autonomously when needed by the user.

Modi는 플렉시블 디스플레이를 활용한 TV 로봇입니다. Modi는 기존 벽걸이 TV나 거치형 TV의 한 자리에 고정되어 있는 가전제품 이미지를 탈피하고 사용자가 필요할 때 스스로 위치하게 하여 사람들에게 편의성을 제공합니다.

Background.

Typically, TVs are fixed in the living room, making them immobile and usable only in public spaces.

Due to this characteristic, users are increasingly preferring mobile displays such as tablets, which allow for mobility and usage in personal environments, over fixed displays like TVs.

With the advancement of technology, as TV screens become larger, the importance of their design as an interior element has increased. Consequently, there is a trend to either hide the enlarged black screens or use standby modes to match the surrounding environment as closely as possible.

일반적으로 TV는 거실에 고정되어 있어 이동이 불가능하며, 공개적인 공간에서만 사용됩니다.

이러한 특성 때문에 사용자들은 TV와 같은 고정형 디스플레이보다는 이동이 가능하고 개인적인 환경에서 사용할 수 있는 태블릿과 같은 이동형 디스플레이의 선호도가 높아지고 있습니다.

또한 기술의 발전으로 TV화면이 점점 커지면서 인테리어적 요소가 중요해져, 더 커진 검은 화면이 보기 싫어 숨기거나 대기모드 기능을 활용해 주변 환경과 최대한 분위기를 맞추는 모습을 보여주고 있습니다.

Concept.

Modi transforms the intrusive black screen of the TV in everyday life into a side table form, approaching you in a more integrated manner.

Modi는 인테리어를 해칠 수 있는 TV의 검은 화면을 숨겨주고 사이드 테이블의 형태로 여러분들에게 다가갑니다.

Modi has a total of three steps of deployment.

#1 Deploying support.

Before the TV display unfolds, the stand at the bottom of Modi unfolds. The stand, which unfolds in four directions, helps prevent Modi from tipping over.

TV 디스플레이가 펼쳐지기 전, Modi 하단의 지지대가 펼쳐집니다. 4방향으로 전개되는 지지대는 Modi가 넘어지지 않게 도움을 줍니다.

#2 Expandable screen.

When Modi support unfolds, the flexible display, which was previously folded, unfolds.

지지대가 전개되면서 본체가 고정되면 말려져 있던 플렉시블 디스플레이가 펼쳐집니다.

#3 Finally, it raises the screen.

Raise the unfolded display to a comfortable viewing height for the user.

펼쳐진 디스플레이를 사용자가 편안하게 볼 수 있는 높이로 올려줍니다.

With Modi, you can go anywhere.

Modi can move around indoors, even in tight spaces, thanks to its mecanum wheel structure that enables omnidirectional movement.

Modi는 전-방향 구동을 가능하게 하는 메카넘 휠 구조를 통해 실내를 돌아다니며 협소한 공간에서도 이동이 가능합니다.

If you suddenly want to stop Modi!

Modi can navigate around various objects in the house and respond to calls. However, in case of an emergency where Modi needs to stop suddenly, press the emergency stop button located at the rear to prevent any potential accidents.

Modi는 집안에 있는 여러 물건들을 피해가며 부름에 응합니다. 하지만 Modi가 갑작스레 멈춰야하는 상황이 생긴다면 후면에 위치한 긴급 정지 버튼을 눌러 혹여나 발생할 사고를 방지하세요.
