The Mila

Our friends at Michael Kors reached out to us again to create a short social media commercial for their new bag "The Mila". The bag was released during 2023 christmas season and attracted the attention of multiple people on social media. Our main idea was all about gold and the golden bag rising from a lake of gold. We tested several fluid systems in SideFX Houdini, from viscous to fluidy and with/without gravity. Finally, we ended up exporting several different shots and fluid systems out of Houdini and into Cinema4D. After lighting and texturing all scenes, we came up with a neat, high end spot showing "The Mila" emerging from a lake of gold.

All simulations ran up to 3 hours to get perfect results. Most important parameters to adjust were Surface Tension and Particle Separation. It also helped to play with antigravity or no gravity at all to get interesting droplet results.
