Satire Theatre

Satire Theatre turns 100 years

The Satire Theatre is one of the largest theaters in Moscow. Today, the Satire Theater consists of four stages: the Main and Cherdak stages located on Triumphal Square, as well as the Progress Stage of A. Jigarkhanyan and the Children's Stage near the Universitet metro station. In 2024, the Satire Theatre celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Tuman Studio created a new visual identity that interprets the heritage and archival design of the theatre into their current practices. Rooted in a dynamic typographic system, the identity reflects the expressive values of the Satire Theatre. The concept is based on the idea of a stage spotlight, a soffit, which highlights the main focus with light and is an integral part of scenography. The spotlight creates a background geometry, adding an additional graphic layer to the layouts. The vibrant color palette sets the mood of a carnival and celebration, connecting to the main theme of the theatre — satire.
