An experienced attorney, Lisa M. Nousek has worked as a partner in the firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP, since 2006. Outside of her professional pursuits, Lisa M. Nousek supports the work of several environmental and community-service organizations, including the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC). In addition to maintaining and conserving the Appalachian Trail, the ATC oversees a number of youth education initiatives. In 2006, the organization launched the Trail to Every Classroom (TTEC), a professional development program that provides K-12 educators with the training and instructional tools needed to engage their students in a hands-on study of the Appalachian Trail.

 

Designed for teachers living alongside or near the Trail, the TTEC is divided into three workshops that focus on the fundamentals of hiking, trail management, and volunteer work. During the workshops, participating teachers work closely with educational experts to develop curriculum that combines classroom work with community-service activities. Once they complete the workshops, each TTEC educator is provided with ongoing support to ensure the success of the program.
