Clyde Quay Wharf Redevelopment (https://goo.gl/maps/Z7er8) is a just completed architectural project (August 2014) in Wellington, New Zealand. For a period during its construction, it was New Zealand's largest project valued at $100 million. The project was developed by Willis Bond and Co and the Architect was Athfield Architects. Athfield Architects (Ian Athfield) is one of New Zealand's highest profile Architectural practices. The main contractor was LT McGuinness. An interesting driver in the Architect's design concept was to have numerous exterior cladding systems in order to mitigate the risk through diversification. If one system failed, it would not end in disaster.

For my day job, at the time, I work for Dulux New Zealand as a Architectural Specification Representative. For two years I worked closely with Athfield Architects and LT McGuinness on this project producing technical coating specifications. From a coatings perspective, the exterior environment is a extreme with the building situated on a finger wharf and surrounded by Wellington's harbour on all sides. The project features Dulux decorative (Wash and Wear 101) and protective coatings (Weathermax HBR - Colours of New Zealand Wairakei and Quantum FX). The project also featured an Intergrain timber stain, NaturalStain (Half Teak project custom colour), for the cedar timber exterior components which I also created the specification for. Dulux Powder Coatings also feature in the project but I was not involved in this component of the project.

I like to photograph the high profile projects I am involved in, mixing work with pleasure (creativity). I captured the project with my Nikon D3100 DSLR camera in raw format and post porcessed the imagery with Adobe Photoshop CS6.
