CarpetScapes: Google Cardboard Virtual Reality

CarpetScapes is utilising 3D visualisation technologies to help my clients to visualise how modular carpet tile designs and layouts will look in situ in an immersive virtual reality to help them make decisions during product presentations. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/virtual-reality-creating-immersive-architectural-product-openshaw?trk=pulse_spock-articles

The three below examples are the same generic interior environment template created with SketchUp (the background imagery is generic Sketchfab backgrounds). Having a virtual interior environment creates a context to frame the modular carpet tile designs. The carpet tiles themselves were photographed with a Nikon D3100 DSLR and then post processed into repeat patterns with Adobe Photoshop CS6 and inserted into the Sketchup model before uploading into https://sketchfab.com/

The models themselve have been uploaded into Sketchfab so they could be easily shared and viewed in virtual reality with Google Cardboard. Here are the instructions on how to view the models in Virtual Reality:  https://help.sketchfab.com/hc/en-us/articles/204777439-Virtual-Reality-VR-

The models themselves have a 120 degree field of view, optimised for VR viewing in a first person mode, which otherwise distorts non VR viewing. I have also included my initial attempts with Sketchfab where the carpet tile designs occupy a large plane and the actual carpet tile repeats designs post processed with Photoshop.

Above is Tandus Centiva (a Tarkett company) Andante Firenote and Wildflower Accents Snapdragon in a square format tile (500 x 500mm) installed in a quarter turned design layout.
