IDENTITY & INFORMATION DESIGN
SOCIAL DESIGN I As humans, we need to be aware of the complex social challenges around us. How can we find ways to use our talents and skills as designers and collaborate with communities to actively improve the quality of lives of others, especially for disadvantaged communities? How can we bridge the gap between “design thinking” and “design doing”?
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: A multi-week assignment reinforcing lectures in design research, design strategy, and brand identity design. Emphasis on identifying a social cause from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and selecting a design problem within it. Students are encouraged to choose a topic that they are passionate about and willing to implement. Worksheets and exercises are from IDEO's "Field Guide to Human-Centered Design."
