Mrs Andean

The task was to create the packaging for a brand named Mrs. Andean that offers mother grains of quinoa, a variety of giant quinoa.

To represent the majesty of the mother grain of quinoa, a giant grain, we created the character of Mrs. Andean as a mountain-woman (an Apu), dressed in a mantle of Andean colors with the sun (the Inti) behind her. Additionally, for the front of the packaging, we drew inspiration from editorial design found on fashion magazine covers, as the name Mrs. Andean alludes to beauty pageants; always, however, incorporating Andean motifs.

Quinoa has transitioned from being an exotic food to being known and consumed worldwide. Therefore, it was essential to create a distinct identity that truly sets the product apart and represents its ancestral origin, the land from which quinoa originates.
