Chandrayaan-3

A tribute to Chandrayaan-3’s success

Three commemorative pieces to mark this achievement

Year: 2023

We at Analogy wanted to celebrate the historic landing of Chandrayaan on the moon with tributes - an interactive Moon lander bobble-piece capturing our excitement, a resin-cast lunar module as a timeless memorial, and a Chandrayaan rocket transforming into a handy screwdriver, symbolising ISRO’s roots of technological advancement.

Project 1: Chandrayaan Bobble

The concept was to create a tabletop scale model of the Vikram lander, which not only pays tribute to the mission's success but also forms a tangible connection to the spacecraft. This was done by building an interactive desk object of the lander which bobbles upon engagement.

The final model boasts an openable top, swivel panels, and spring-loaded feet, creating an engaging bobble effect. Each component was 3D printed separately and assembled, with the legs incorporating springs, allowing the model to bobble on any tabletop.

Project 2: Chandrayaan Immortalised

We aimed to immortalise the historic landing, and the most fitting analogy we found was to freeze it in time using resin. It not only preserves the essence of the achievement but also provides a lasting testament to the event's significance.

The process began with sculpting the lunar surface to capture its details. In parallel, we created a scaled-down replica of the Vikram lander, to complement this landscape. The lander is enshrined with the landscape using resin.

Project 3: Lunar Driver

In India's celebration of ISRO's growth and ongoing technological advancements, the symbolism of the screwdriver becomes evident, embodying the foundation of this journey. It serves as a functional representation of the craftsmanship that contributed to the establishment of ISRO.

The final model showcases an intuitive design where the main rocket serves as the grip of the screwdriver and the two boosters hold the extra bits in place.
