Human Shark | Interactive Spaces

Human Shark  |  Interactive Spaces 2023
Concept:

This project was inspired by the movement of a school of fish and how they make way for larger fish and/or sharks to move through their school without harm to themselves. This interactive project was created to simulate that effect while giving the human the opportunity to be the shark safely on land.

Inspiration:

Tools/Processed Used:
• P5.js
• Processing
• Kinect
Initial Ideas:

Development:

Before implementing the camera in, I first created the moving school of fish and used the mouse in place of the human to get a feel for how the fish would move away and then move back into place

Code Development:
• Second version of code where fish are seen and moving from mouse:
Issues faced:

When I first introduction the camera and human detection, everything worked great. I began testing this out with a camera taped to the ceiling and using the computer as the screen to make sure it was working. Issues arised once I began using the projector and projecting onto the floor. As a person would walk across the projection, the projection would also show on them, this caused the camera to no longer be able to detect what was human and what was not. This was a huge issues because that was a main component to my project. Luckily there was a solution, but added a lot more to the project, complicating it.
