Little Moments of Being

Little Moments of Being is a partly autobiographical project rooted in personal narratives, taking inspiration from my journey of self-examination and reflection upon relocating to a new city and the quest to find a sense of belonging. The outcome comes together in the form of a visual journal with artworks laid out as a spread that chronicles fleeting glimpses, seemingly mundane moments with concealed emotional depth, contemplative thoughts and a web of emotions.

Through the lens of Little Moments of Being, the bustling cityscape becomes a backdrop, mirroring the external realities of the world while simultaneously reflecting the inner nuances of the mind. Loneliness, disconnection, and being lost are recurring themes that echo through each artwork, offering an exploration of the multifaceted nature of the human experience in response to the enveloping landscapes.

The Making

Using the three techniques of monoprinting (offset, direct and gelli), the project offers a glimpse into the inner world of the character, interweaving their emotions and experiences with the dynamic cityscape that surrounds them. The choice of the monoprinting technique, producing only one edition, reinforces the idea that each piece is a singular representation of a specific moment or emotion that cannot be replicated or repeated exactly.
The Outcome
A visual journal of loneliness and disconnection amid a journey of relocation
and a quest to find a place to call home.
