Our fourth project had us creating a 3D form that showed movement through the use of layering. For our materials, we used (a minimum of) 100 popsicle sticks and glue. My solution was inspired by environmental artist, Andy Goldsworthy. Many times his work frequently shows an organic river-form. I decided to base my design off of this form for its strong sense of movement and the organic way in which he creates it. While I did have sketches of what I wanted the final form to look like, I let the design form organically similarly to Goldsworthy's process. I struggled figuring out how to form a curve -- especially one that curved back and around the other direction. It was very hard to determine the spacing of each popsicle stick and how large my curve would end up. I feel my solution was successful in achieving this.
