The project following the album cover design required us to explore and reimplement our design. Expanding on what the vinyl packaging explored with the UV reactive ink, the Stellar Debacle Tour poster focused on the astral themes of Captain Murphy’s Lyrics. In order to create the stars in the background, I ran my thumb across the bristles of a toothbrush dipped in the ink.* The misting of the ink created a variety of sizes of stars to give it the illusion of depth. I kept the composition of my poster fairly simple allowing the star effect take precedence. While it is simple, the organization of my type, the reworking of the logo to include the Crab Nebula and the hand-lettering are still quite successful.
