"Lunar Crescendo" - 2023 Nowon Moonlight Walk, Seoul

TEAM | INTRODUCTION | VISUAL | SETUP

In October 2023, Apollon Immersive Works created the media installation art <Lunar Crescendo> to be showcased at the public light festival '2023 Nowon Moonlight Walk' sponsored by Nowon-gu. <Lunar Crescendo> takes inspiration from ‘the crescent moon' and reimagining its shape and temporal characteristics in a new aesthetic form. The light emitted from the artwork, installed beneath the bridge, creating a diverse and unique scene by reflecting off the surrounding space and the water. Under the bridge, he space functions as a massive echo chamber, harmonizing with the sound to provide the audience with an even more majestic visual and auditory experience.

Within a short period of about 2 months, a variety of efforts were made to create a high-quality artwork. During the initial planning phase, Apollon Immersive Works built a 3D spatial model that closely mirrored reality. This model was used for repetitive simulations to test brightness and light reflection. Afterward, studio test was carried out using the actual ring-shaped structure to minimize potential variable in real-life situation.
Through multiple rounds of content testing and sound development, a high-quality final artwork was created.

<Lunar Crescendo> was planned and directed by Apollon, in collaboration with the artist Timo Helgert. This is an original media installation art exclusively created for the public light festival '2023 Nowon Moonlight Walk'. The artwork composed of the three movements, continuously evolves over approximately 10 minutes. The light from the artwork ultimately expands Danghyeon 3 Bridge into a new inspirational space filled with light and music.
