About Kalyan 
Kalyan silks is the worlds largest silk saree showroom. The chain of textile showrooms offer a variety of clothing option for children, men and women. The company has associated itself with a string of looms in major centres and has set up its own manufacturing and designing houses and hence has been successful in offering quality products with control of pricing. The brand is a peoples favourite with showrooms in South India as well as abroad.

Kalyan hypermarket is a subdivision of Kalyan silks. The brand wanted to give back to its loyal customers and hence set up hypermarkets so that their customers could have one stop shopping experience. The store is divided to multiple floors for groceries, household appliances, clothing etc. 


About the Project
The Project focuses on understanding retail spaces and the techniques they employ in order to offer a smooth experience, find gaps and offer innovative solutions to the problems with specific focus on the floor dedicated to clothing.
Store Layout (L)
Analysing store area and floor plan to get an understanding of the different zones and sectioning of facilities.

Proposed Store Layout (R)
On the basis of the study done an alternate store layout was suggested in order to avoid congestion while shopping while making sure to utilise the space to the maximum.

Fixtures
Studying the different kind of fixtures at the store that are currently in use to display products.
Current Displays 
Being a part of a departmental store, Kalyan uses styles of wall elevations for the different categories of products they have. The main aim of the displays is to get maximum out of the space and display good product assortment.​​​​​​​
Space Design Proposals 
2. A lounge outside the trial room: A space for tired shopping partners to rest when trials are taking place. The space will have a full size mirror with a small ramp to elevate the shopping experience.
