Benji Wilson was from Chicago, Illinois. He was regarded the number 1 high school basketball player in the U.S. by coaches and talent scouts all over the country. Magic Johnson would often call him before games to wish him luck. On November 21, 1984, Benji was shot and murdered outside a food store near his school. He was just 17 years old.

During the 90’s I was basketball obsessed. In ’95, I remember reading about Benji’s story in SLAM magazine almost 30 years ago and his story broke my heart and for some reason never left me.

I always want to use my craft for good and decided to make something that not only shared and honoured his story but also an opportunity to push my own work.
