There's not enough words to describe how much this woman's work helped and impacted me. Billie Holiday was a genius storyteller. She could rewrite and rearrange melodies in order to fit her voice range better and to take control of the song. If she sang about rain, you could feel the drops. If she sang about despair or heartache, it would hit you like a brick wall.
Billie is, to me, the best singer that ever did it. Ever.
