La muestra apela al ejercicio de una mirada consciente sobre el entorno urbano, que permita a las personas ejercer un pensamiento crítico sobre la ciudad, fortaleciendo el papel del ciudadano en la creación, la defensa y la transformación positiva del espacio vital, consolidando una conciencia de paisaje urbano.

Esta primera exposición indaga en las primeras periferias urbanas de las grandes ciudades (años 50-60-70), espacios en su día innovadores y experimentales a nivel urbano y residencial, que dieron cobijo a enormes contingentes de personas en búsqueda de unas mejores expectativas de trabajo y calidad de vida. Enmarcadas en procesos de deterioro e ineficiencia prácticamente generalizados, representan la oportunidad de llevar a cabo una acción realmente transformadora del espacio urbano y social, desde la experimentación de nuevas técnicas y el ejercicio de alianzas, reivindicando una vuelta al pensamiento y la innovación en la re-construcción colectiva de la ciudad.

Para ello, se propone la mirada de diferentes creadores que transitan habitualmente las periferias urbanas como parte de su práctica artística y vital. Desde una voluntad inconsciente, escogen una parte, un tema, un manera de aproximarse.., la cuestionan o la reimaginan y nos devuelven un ejercicio plástico que se ejecuta desde lugares diversos. Esta exposición se inspira en Saint Blaise, un barrio imaginario a la búsqueda de imaginario; un lugar deteriorado social y físicamente a las puertas de experimentar grandes mejoras… veremos.

Aspectos como el deterioro, las personas, la soledad y los afectos, la rutina, los espacios y las arquitecturas, los recorridos, los materiales, los lugares… captan el interés del artista, al igual que su representación.

A través de fotografía, dibujo, collage, escultura, pintura… los artistas nos muestran su percepción y su interpretación de las periferias. Fernando Barrios Benavides se caracteriza por una abstracción con relato, a través de esculturas y una pintura a veces collage que combina materiales, técnicas y materias diversas. Raúl Bravo, realiza dibujos y apuntes rápidos en sus derivas urbanas, collages a modo de libro de artista. Yuri Pol, a través de la fotografía, nos hace llegar instantes sociales, paisajes humanos, territorios vacíos, pero también imágenes poéticas de mayor abstracción.

The exhibition appeals to the exercise of a conscious look at the urban environment, allowing people to think critically about the city, strengthening the role of the citizen in the creation, defence and positive transformation of living space, consolidating an awareness of the urban landscape.

This first exhibition explores the first urban peripheries of the big cities (1950s-1960s-1970s), spaces that were once innovative and experimental at the urban and residential level, which gave shelter to huge contingents of people in search of better job prospects and quality of life. Framed in processes of practically generalised deterioration and inefficiency, they represent the opportunity to carry out a truly transformative action of the urban and social space, from the experimentation of new techniques and the exercise of alliances, claiming a return to thought and innovation in the collective re-construction of the city.

To this end, we propose the gaze of different creators who habitually transit the urban peripheries as part of their artistic and vital practice. From an unconscious will, they choose a part, a theme, a way of approaching it, they question it or reimagine it and give us back a plastic exercise that is executed from different places. This exhibition is inspired by Saint Blaise, an imaginary neighbourhood in search of an imaginary; a socially and physically deteriorated place on the verge of undergoing major improvements… we shall see.

Aspects such as deterioration, people, loneliness and affections, routine, spaces and architectures, routes, materials, places… capture the artist’s interest, as well as their representation.

Through photography, drawing, collage, sculpture, painting… the artists show us their perception and interpretation of the peripheries. Fernando Barrios Benavides is characterised by an abstraction with a narrative, through sculptures and sometimes collage painting that combines different materials, techniques and materials. Raúl Bravo, makes drawings and quick sketches in his urban drifts, collages in the form of an artist’s book. Yuri Pol, through photography, brings us social instants, human landscapes, empty territories, but also poetic images of greater abstraction.
