The iconic and historic cranes of Buenos Aires' Puerto Madero receive a modern upgrade. The cranes are repurposed and transformed into habitable spaces with an entry, dining room, bedroom, and "sky box." The sky box is a glass cube that is hoisted in the air by the crane's mechanical arm. At night the glowing sky boxes create an organic choreographed dance of rippled reflections on the water's surface. The 3d cubes become giant pixels for living. This project was part of a 7-day workshop titled CAP Americano, which took place in Argentina with SOM architect Craig Hartman.
