L'esprezzo - Chalkboard Menu

Seems like chalkboard art is fast gaining a throng of fans recently!

My creative partner (view her awesome gallery) received a commission to hand draw L'esprezzo (by The Loaf)'s menu on their cupboards. It was our first time, so we gingerly accepted, and made tons of research on the Internet!

We learnt that priming the surface is essential, as it will help with the chalk sticking on the surface later and eliminate the chances of leaving faint but noticeable marks once we rub any mistakes off. Priming took a lot of energy and time, and quickly ate through half a box of the chalks...
...only to find out it didn't help as much as we hoped. The surface of the cupboard is too smooth to write on, even after priming. We tried to pressed down harder but we risk damaging the surface.

Luckily, with some help, we managed to get our hands on some Crayola dry-erase crayons that were able to write smoothly on the cupboards, and the colours really pop.

My creative partner hard at work with some final touches.

A few months later, we were again commissioned to draw for another branch. Armed with  previous experiences, our second time fared better.
Same creative partner hard at work here too
