"The Arctic is Breaking" Temporary exhibition
"The Arctic is Breaking" is a temporary exposition from Obra Social La Caixa based on the photographs and videos made by Andoni Canela during the last few years. Apart from compiling the work made from 12 expeditions from all Arctic countries, the work contains interactive multimedia pieces and projections, alongside original works from the habitants of the Arctic.
It is an innovative and spectacular space of 200 m2 that transports you to the icy circle designed by Ambito Cero. The exhibition is transported by two trucks, traversing the country and the different Spanish capitals. The grand tour began in 2013 and will continue for 8 years and going through more than a 100 cities.
The graphic design by uauh! is based on the irregular forms of broken ice. The design includes graphic panels illustrating the diverse shapes and patterns the ice makes as it breaks off or melts away. The primary colors of the exposition are blue, white, and black, contrasting with the images from photographer Andoni Canela. The use of bitonal illustrations describing the climatological effects on the maps emphasize the breadth of the project.
The exposition "The Arctic is Breaking" from Obra Social La Caixa is now showing in Paseo Marítimo de Cullera, Valencia, Spain until the 25th of July.
