Broadcast Opening Titles

I was commissioned by Infront Italy to design and create the animated sequences for the opening titles of the Eurovolley 2023 tournament matches. The women and men chiampionships are played simultaneously and it was required to have the same creativity declined for the respective tournaments.

Design

The approach of some of these proposals have not achieved success and have remained in the drawer.

Here the final steps of the character design, the palette and che abstraction of the backgrounds.

The palettes were to be composed of the colors of the men's and women's tournament logos.

Process

I used a lot of tools in my pipeline:

after the final illustration made in Photoshop, I built the arena in 3D by Cinema 4D.

I imported both assets into After Effects and I rebuilt the character body by Limber plugin; than I animated it and the 3D camera.

Frame by frame details

I added details and micro-expressions in frame-by-frame animation made in Animate CC.

Than I imported these assets in After Effects with Timelord plugin ,and I attached them to my Limber characters.

3D Arena

I built the arena in Cinema 4D and its Sketch & Toon render setup. The Eurovolley Cup is an 3D asset but its reflections are designed directly in After Effects by animated shapes.
