Precious Poddling is an art piece initially inspired by the exotic form of fruits such as the Gila Manroot a type of spiky wild cucumber.
This sculpture looks at the enticing external forms of fruit and seed pods, and then opens up to reveal their hidden internal complexities on a microscopic level.
Garnet gemstones and textural shaped beads have been used to represent the preciousness of the seeds contained within such forms.
Packed into every seed is the complete genetic information needed to give rise to a new plant.
“Fruits are the keepers of the precious seeds that ensure our future”
