The Impossible Coffee

Title: 'The Impossible Coffee'
Year created: (April) 2013
Medium, Ceramic, Polycaprolactone, Metal armature, acrylic, Varnish, Stove pots

Description:
Crafted using a Polycaprolactone smart plastic (The artists signature medium to create her flowing sculptural pieces.) the medium had allowed the artist to emulate a suspended moment in time.
The piece emphasises the motion and fluidity of the coffee liquid at a moment of impact. The energy and motion reflected in this sculpture was inspired by the beauty of nature and physics in the daily ritual of creating a cup of coffee.
The piece is entitled the impossible coffee, as the seemingly magically suspended stovetops and the scale of the piece, represent the artists own personal ritual of making a coffee before starting a new project or taking on like. The Impossible coffee is a coffee fit for preparing an individual for taking on the seemingly impossible tasks of the day.

This sculpture was created for The Coffee Art Project.
The Coffee Art Project is a high profile art competition linked to the theme of coffee and is one of the core initiatives of UK Coffee Week 2013.
This piece was displayed at the Old Truman Brewery (Dray Walk Gallery) on Brick lane in London, and also at the London Coffee Festival.
Thie art peice will be auctioned at The London Coffee Festival with all proceeds from this and all net proceeds from sponsors going directly to support much-needed clean water and sanitation initiatives in coffee producing countries.

A Detailed Shot of Coffee Splash effect,
which I hand sculpted from plastic and coloured with a Gloss paint.
This sculpture also contains within it, a tiny red crystal stone which i sealed into the piece as i was sculpting.
The red gem to me was a personal concealed touch like a secret little heart within the art piece giving it life, and seemed appropriate for a sculpture which was created, with the purpose of raising awarness and supporting a cause which will save lives.
