SPORTS CENTER PALAMÓS

CONCEPT
This project is extension of the existing sports center I.S. Palamós, located in Girona, Spain.
The building is consists in three volumes: the largest volume is the sports field Its stands out with repetitive gable roofs and one highest dominante roof. This design of the roof allows to place skylights on it. The orientation of the skylights allows the entry of light from the north through the trusses, a uniform light that does not cause glare.
El segundo volumen está representado por una forma prismática y contiene los vestuarios en el primer nivel y la sala de artes marciales en el segundo nivel.
The last volume contains an entrance group, a hall and a ramp fiving a connection with the existing center.
The structure elements incorporates a glue-laminated timber portal frames, braced with metal cables.
Many of the interior surfaces are finished with wood panels, which makes the interior spaces more inviting and blends well with the wooden structure of the pavilion. Prefabricated concrete panels, aluminium panels and sandwich panels for roofs are used with outdoor materials.
