What is it
Exagerado is an audiovisual project by Universal Music paying tribute to the Brazilian singer and songwriter Cazuza, celebrating his 65th birthday (April 4th 2023), featuring modern reinterpretations of four of his classics performed by artists from the new generation: Bryan Behr, Carol Biazin and Mahmundi.
How I did it
Researching typographic references within Cazuza's discography covers, I found a prevalent use of a grunge style with intentionally distorted elements, effectively conveying the rebellious and rock 'n roll attitude of the singer. Just as artists revisit Cazuza's songs, my aim was to do the same visually by incorporating this typography as the foundation for the project's title.
The "melting" effect applied to the photographs was inspired by Salvador Dalí's renowned work, "The Persistence of Memory," which, like Cazuza, portrays time as fluid, mutable, and inevitable, emphasizing the ephemeral nature of life.
Lastly, I chose this orange, almost red, hue to evoke passion, intensity, and an element of exaggeration.
