Filmfest Hamburg – Yellow raincoats on red carpets.
Filmfest Hamburg is an important cultural event in northern Germany that serves as a diverse and accessible platform for vast cultural exchange. Therefore, a majority of international filmmakers attend the festival in person.

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, we created a new brand identity for the supra-regional festival. The newly developed logo system refers to the shape of the cinema screen, aiming to address the ideas of connection and content focus. A yellow raincoat called 'Friesennerz,' which is a typical garment in northern Germany, becomes the foundation for the festival's visual direction. Each year, a new keyvisual is developed, centered around the Friesennerz as a recurring leitmotif. The raincoat's vibrant yellow becomes the festival's main color, setting a visual highlight within public spaces.

A playful and experimental visual direction is aimed at pleasing a wide local and supra-local audience. The Friesennerz references the city of Hamburg and the rainy season of autumn when the festival traditionally takes place every year.
The visual identity of the festival adapts to various means of communication, such as posters, printed program booklets, or social media, presenting the festival within the northern German region.
During our long-term partnership, we have explored a vast range of stylistic expressions in the development of annual key visuals, including painting, illustration, and photo montage.
