Self-portrait with food is a compilation of all my thoughts about food and self-portrait. It speaks about the different ways in which the 20th century artists have represented themselves through food; in a physical or metaphorical way.
The layout is organised and designed based on a 7 column grid that provides two double spaced columns and a single space column. Each start of chapter is begun by a double page image filling the whole spread and the title divided in "handwritten" and "Didot old style". This is repeated throughout the document to give consistency to the layout.
The main idea behind this grid-based design is to have a visual and structural balance, to provide the reader with a sophisticated layout structure that will assist and illustrate the content of this document. It offers a readable essay, along with a design that enhances the visual experience. In fact, readers can easily follow the content of the page, while enjoying a well-thought, consistent and cooperating layout that emphasizes the content.

Please note that this text is original and has been written by me. It is the original text submitted to my "Last Tendencies in Contemporary Art" course during my studies. The title and the chapters have been translated but the text is still as is was written originally.
