FedEx Cyber Security Month 2010

Cyber Security Month Campaign
October 2010 - September 2011
In harnessing the significance of National Cyber Security Month, I orchestrated a strategically recurring series of events that not only aligned with the national framework but also underscored our commitment to cybersecurity excellence within FedEx Corporation. This initiative encompassed a spectrum of dynamic elements including distinguished guest speakers, meticulously designed printed collateral, impactful web advertising, and a multi-faceted email and print invitation campaign. The messaging strategy was a work of precision, targeting a diverse range of recipients – from our esteemed general employees to tailored communications tailored specifically for our upper management echelons.

The monumental success of our 2010 campaign was characterized by the strategic establishment of events in 7 key locations across the globe throughout the month of October. This global reach was a testament to our organization's unwavering dedication to cybersecurity, resonating across continents as a beacon of preparedness. As a manifestation of our enduring commitment, the campaign extended beyond the borders of a single month, with 4 additional locations added in the spring of 2011. This continuity showcased our resolve to perpetuate cybersecurity awareness throughout the year, not merely confining it to a fleeting moment.

At its core, this initiative embodied a harmonious fusion of meticulous planning, creativity, and strategic foresight. By leveraging the National Cyber Security Month, we tapped into a national discourse and elevated it to a global stage. The multifaceted approach – from the profound insights shared by guest speakers to the visually captivating printed materials – created a synergy that was greater than the sum of its parts.
A pivotal facet of our multi-dimensional campaign was the strategic deployment of four self-standing banners, each measuring an impressive 3' x 6'. These banners served as dynamic visual ambassadors, strategically positioned to amplify awareness and excitement surrounding our events across various venues.

Strategically placed at key locations within each venue, these banners were more than just decorative elements; they acted as informational signposts, directing attendees to the epicenter of cybersecurity insights. Their striking visuals and concise messaging crystallized the core theme, creating a cohesive narrative that seamlessly aligned with the overarching campaign.

These banners transcended static visuals, becoming catalysts for engagement. By capturing attention and igniting curiosity, they laid the foundation for meaningful conversations and interactions. Attendees couldn't help but be drawn into the atmosphere of cybersecurity preparedness that these banners exuded.

At the heart of our 2010 campaign was a theme that resonated with impact and resonance: "U.R.IT!" This ingeniously crafted theme ingeniously incorporated a key component of the word "Security," creating a cohesive and memorable rallying cry that effortlessly conveyed the essence of our campaign to all employees. This theme served as the cornerstone of our messaging, unifying diverse elements under a single, powerful banner.

Our choice to infuse the theme "U.R.IT!" throughout the campaign was deliberate and strategic. It became a clarion call that cut through the noise, capturing attention and sparking curiosity. By embedding a part of the word "Security" within this theme, we not only simplified a complex concept but also made it relatable and engaging. This clever linguistic fusion served as a mnemonic, helping employees internalize the message effortlessly.

One of the key mediums through which the theme was brought to life was the creation of impactful posters. These posters, bearing the "U.R.IT!" message, served as visual reminders that reinforced the campaign's core messaging. These creative visuals not only captivated but also encouraged deeper engagement, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among the employees.

Furthermore, the theme "U.R.IT!" wasn't limited to posters alone; it became a thread that intertwined through various advertising channels. From web advertising to email invitations, this theme transcended platforms, creating a cohesive and immersive experience for all recipients. This strategic consistency transformed the campaign from a series of events into a unified narrative that resonated across touchpoints.

In a strategic move to ensure widespread engagement and participation, I orchestrated a comprehensive email invitation campaign for each of our global events. These invitations were tailor-made to resonate with different groups, aligning our messaging with their unique perspectives and responsibilities. A pivotal feature of these invitations was their seamless integration with employees' workflow through an innovative "Add to Calendar" button.

This button, when clicked, effortlessly integrated the event into an employee's Exchange calendar. This streamlined action exemplified our commitment to user convenience and engagement. It was a tangible manifestation of our understanding of the busy lives our employees lead, and our desire to seamlessly fit these events into their schedules.
Employing a multi-faceted approach to engage our senior management ensured that key members of executive management received information from multiple channels, underscoring the significance of the upcoming events.

Beginning with the delivery of a printed glossy multi-tabbed invitation, we set the stage for an immersive experience. This tangible invitation, replete with detailed information, schedules, and speaker bios, was a testament to our dedication to providing comprehensive insights. By extending this personalized touch, we conveyed a level of exclusivity and importance, setting the tone for the forthcoming engagement.

In tandem, we strategically utilized email to further amplify the anticipation. A "save the date" announcement served as a digital precursor, piquing curiosity and serving as a timely reminder. The digital format allowed for quick access and efficient communication while maintaining the air of anticipation.

The pinnacle of this approach was a tri-fold binder comprising of a range of elements that catered to both the intellect and curiosity of our esteemed executives. A personalized invitation from the CISO added a human touch, reinforcing the importance of the events. A carefully curated industry-focused white paper served as a beacon of knowledge, elevating the discourse beyond the event itself. To complete the experience, printed collateral pieces showcased our commitment to awareness and vigilance, fostering a culture of cybersecurity among all corporate employees.
At the heart of this initiative was the recognition of the digital landscape as an extension of our communication efforts. By creating a dedicated website, we ensured that employees had access to a wealth of information that went beyond the confines of traditional communication channels. This digital platform was more than just informative; it was a testament to our organization's embrace of technology as a means to amplify engagement.

The website's architecture was designed with meticulous precision, providing a user-friendly interface that facilitated effortless navigation. Detailed information about each event was readily accessible, ensuring that employees had a comprehensive understanding of what lay ahead. This digital repository eliminated ambiguity, fostering a sense of preparedness and anticipation.
