“Black joy is an act of resistance. The whole idea of oppression is to keep people down. So when people continue to shine and live fully, it is resistance in the context of our white supremacist world.” - Mei-Ling Malone

These print designs were inspired by my love of postmodernist art styles, collage elements, Blackness, and typography. I wanted to create something that spoke to the freedom, playfulness, and boldness of Black joy.
