Speeder Aratech 74-Z

texture & look-development by the person whose who owns this profile :)
Sanjoop's modeling has always inspired me to texture and look-dev them, he chooses his subject quite different from what is trendy, rather picks subject which cater to hone his modeling skills, and in turn I get to do the same using those models. Collaborating on a project is always been my favourite way to work. It always ends up creating something memorable. This Speeder is no different.
The main goal was to make the Speeder feel like something that has been used extensively to travel
perhaps it belonged to a photographer, who travels around the Star Wars universe.

Grogu was here :)
Did someone special pass by the speeder when the photographer was away?

If I am allowed the privilege to be biased for my own renders, then this foot pedal above would be my favourite. The model was great to work with, but it experiment paid of in Houdini where I was trying to get a crust of dirt and rust on the metal. Very unorthodox setup, but it worked here for a still image.

The seats where a hard sell, simple because of the shape the speeder's design demands. It looks great in the model, but I wanted a used soft leathery feel to it. I'd have liked a bit more time with it, but had to stop in the interest of time, and I left it at what we see above.

Looking back, there are few aspects where I would've spend a bit more time on, especially on the exhaust metal pieces. The thing is, when you stare at your own artwork for days on end, ideas cease to take shape. Its when you finish a work and look at it later you realize you could've done it differently, well its always a give and take with Father Time I assume.
Textured in Substance Painter, rendered using Renderman for Houdini.
Thank you for stopping by the project, even if it was a quick scroll to the bottom. Your view is appreciated.
