The outcome is a digital analogue of a music box. The set consists of the music box, a special board with notes and black beads that are used to write the melody. The board covers the 4th and the 5th octaves and there are 23 notes available. Each hole in the board is related to a specific note and placing a black bead in this hole means playing the note. The board should be dragged through the box that leads to the beads combination being transformed into the sound. There is a special white column on the right side that works as a pitch transposer. Placing the first bead in any note of the 4th octave and the second one in the white row causes the note being played in the 5th octave. There could be no more than 2 balls in one horizontal row.
The box contains 12 digital line sensors connected to the Arduino that scans the vertical rows. A piezo buzzer tuned at the standard notes frequency produces the sound. The black bead works as an input while the output varies depending on what melody you would like to play.
The set contains a hand-crafted booklet showing the development and the trials in detail.
