This project was an initial test to experiment with some design and interface ideas that myself and Annette had for the mobile web, this was an excellent start point to sink our teeth into - prior to tackling the full mobile commerce site.
We wanted to design an interface that was very much like an app, however one that was easily accessible from any device and very cost effective.
Mothercare previously had a full HTML based store locator, though it's design is not one that is most easily usable on a mobile device.
We came up with an interface that would be intuitive and easy to use, providing the 3 main features of our mobile store locator in an accessible way.

Web based Geo-location was utilized in order to tap into a device's GPS chip and allow the WebApp to locate a user's exact position and show the nearest stores available. (seen above right)

Postcode based search provides an alternative to the Geo-location and allows users who prefer to use this feature to type in their postcode or town names which then retrieves a list of the nearest stores to their location (seen above right).

The user is then also able to get these stores displayed on the full map view to better judge distance to their current location.

We've also utilised the Geo-location capability of the WebApp to provide our users with Google map based directions showing the route from the users current location to their desired store.
With over 180k visits in the past 2 months, these features have helped make the mobile store locator a unique and valuable tool for our customers and expanding their shopping experience at Mothercare.
