Hierarchy | acrylic on paper

"Hierarchy" (2020-2022) is a daring exploration of power dynamics, embodied in an acrylic on paper artwork. This experimental piece, was painted in 2020 and finalized in response to the events in Ukraine in February 2022.
The dense purple, shadowed by an undertone of gray, signifies the heaviness of oppression, akin to a crushing crop, while the yellow funnel symbolizes the confining structure of hierarchy. The weighty purple symbolizes an oppressive force, reminiscent of a crop under duress, while the yellow funnel, a striking metaphor, represents the confining structure of hierarchy. Through this vivid display, "Hierarchy" (2020-2022) illuminates the stark realities of power structures and their diminishing, crushing influence on value.
This vivid representation bears witness to the constraining effect of power structures, diminishing and compacting value. This artwork is my poignant commentary on historical events, that reflects my complex experiences as a native of one of the post-Soviet republics in relation to the dishonorable war unleashed on the territory of Ukraine.
